I don’t profess to be a political genius, but I do have an “outside of the box” thought about the 2022 and 2024 elections. My thought is predicated on the probability that there are some rational congressional members of the Trumpian Manchurian GOP who perceive no escape from and feel entrapped by the cult’s primary election endorsement threats. To save these honorable congressional souls, extraordinary divine political action is necessary to achieve salvation.
My hypothesis is predicated upon one assumption and that is there are some honorable, patriotic Americans in the Republican Congress who are fed up with the effort to destroy democracy and are entrapped in the xenophobic fascist GOP swamp. My experience has suggested that there are two basic emotions that control people, fear and greed. I believe that one or both of these emotions governs most people who desire to continue to serve in Congress.
My suggestion is a very simple one by providing a choice. The leadership of the Democratic Party should offer any Republican Member of Congress who chooses to run as either an Independent or Democratic comprehensive re-election support. Note that in many states unaffiliated independent candidates have no primary. That category of a candidate cannot be “primaried”.
