THE GRIM SLEEPER!

“Grim Reaper Moscow Mitch” McConnell is upset about his nickname.  The nickname may have something to do with his obviously helping Russia’s intrusion in our elections by stonewalling House Congressional legislation to protect our elections.  He might also be upset about the possible loss of a Russian oligarch’s promised project investment in Kentucky which would help ‘Moscow Mitch’s’ campaign.  ‘Moscow Mitch’ is up for re-election in 2020!  Then again it might be that it has been discovered that his wife, who is Secretary of Transportation, has been manipulating Department Regulations in order to benefit her family’s Chinese shipping company. Of course they are contributors to ‘Moscow Mitch’s’ campaign. Maybe stonewalling has something to do with the desire of getting a little extra “winning help insurance” from a foreign country with their fake media, news, hacking or just f**king up the election to benefit the consigliere.

All of this is very troubling, but I found a solution in a dream!  I dreamt that hackers all over the world decided that it might be fun and a challenge to be on the right side of democracy.  So they decided in the tradition of a citizen’s militia that they would hack and attack any country that interferes with the 2020 United States election process.  Of course no one knows the magnitude and consequences of a massive cyber attack on those intruding foreign countries computerized infrastructures, but maybe we might find out!

It was only a dream!  I could have dreamt that the Senate did their job and passed legislation to protect our elections and our democracy.  ‘Moscow Mitch‘, when you sleep, do you have dreams or nightmares?

SOCIALISM-

A GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE…

There has been a lot of conversation about socialism in the 2020 presidential campaign. Appropriately so, Americans will have to chose between two socialistic systems when they vote in 2020.  The choices are either Trump’s Republican Nationalistic Socialism or the socialistic model embodied in the Constitution of the United States.

Let’s define the basics about what is “government” and socialism. Government is the societal system created for the purpose of providing for its’ members that which they cannot individually provide for themselves.  Governmental systems are categorized by their operational character and societal goals.  Some typical categories are capitalism, democracy, autocracy, theology, socialism, communism, republic, dictatorship, nationalistic, monarchy, tribal, etc.

“Socialism” is one of these political and economic governmental systems selected by leadership for their society’s operation.  Socialism, like all the other governmental systems identifies, controls and distributes assets, resources, establishes function and form, the monetary system, laws, the judiciary, and performs other collective and distributional functions that cannot be accomplished by individual members.  

Distribution is the keystone of any established governmental system, and is normally designed for maximum public benefit.  These systems range in complexity from a simple tribal order to a parliamentary structure operating in a monarchy.

Whatever the level of government, complexity or operation, the purpose of government, any government, is inherently socialistic. By virtue of the very nature of government, there is not a government in existence today that is, to some degree or another, socialistic!  The difference being the method of distribution, the source of assets from the population, and who are the beneficiaries.

Even Republican Abraham Lincoln with his famous statement at Gettysburg, in 1863 embodied the very essence of American socialism.

“A GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE…”  

In 1788 the Constitution of the United States created the plan for America’s socialism. The preamble contains these words “We the People…, establish Justice…, insure domestic Tranquility…, provide for the common defense…promote general Welfare…” and then lays the framework of implementation and responsibilities in the Articles and Amendments of the Constitution.  

For over two hundred forty years the system has worked, tempered by the conditions of the time frame.  In general, taxes (assets) are collected from the people by various levels of government to cover the cost of the military, safety systems, education, welfare, legislation, infrastructure, health, governance, the judiciary, transportation, etc. which are provided to and used by the general population for their benefit and welfare .

However, no person in leadership control of the U.S. Government ever attempted to change, interpret or ignore the Constitution’s operational statues for personal benefit until now.  No leader has claimed to be above the law stating “the rule of law” does not apply to them and they are not bound to any governing philosophy except that which they define.  Until now!

Donald Trump and his Republican party have taken an axe to the Constitution and created their own slash and burn socialistic government.  Their creed is basically “Government of nationalistic white racists, by the greedy and corrupt , for special interests and the rich”.  Let’s examine some examples:

• Lobbyists or persons with specific interests were appointed to Cabinet or Department positions, so that they may be able to influence/change the regulations and/or contracts relative to the industry/company that they were involved with prior to becoming a administration member. In some cases they have been known to receive some outside “under the table” re-numeration.

• Sale of U.S. military equipment or nuclear information/material to a country for personal or family member(s) gain.

• Ex cabinet members becoming board members of entities that sought and successfully received government contracts.

• Opening public lands for energy company exploration.

• Unqualified persons influencing government functions.  Like the “three guys from Mar-a-Logo”, who never served a day in the military, advising on how to run the Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Permitting operators of nuclear reactors to self inspect and report less frequently.  

• Reduce power plant fossil fuel emission requirements in order to permit the continued use of coal.

• EPA rejecting a claim of a pesticide being linked to brain damage.

• Twenty eight billion taxpayer dollars redirected to aid farmers for losses due to Trump’s tariff war.

• Court approval of the administration’s junk health insurance plan to substitute for the Affordable Care Act’s comprehensive insurance.

• Hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars going onto Trump’s profit line every time the administration visits a Trump property.

Perhaps the most egregious example of the Administration’s form of socialism is The Tax Cut and Jobs Act of 2017.  

• A 1.5 trillion dollar tax cut which was approved in 2017, had over 90% of the tax benefits going to the top 10% income earners and corporations. The top 10% pocketed the windfall and the corporations bought back their stock which resulted in lower taxed bonuses to management.  Some employees got a small one time bonus, most got a few dollars in tax relief.  That bonus and any small tax reduction was offset by the higher cost of goods as a result of Trump’s tariff wars.  In the meantime the yearly deficit has increased over 50%.  With this deficit and continued deficits predicted, either one of two actions will have to be taken in the near future.  Either taxes will have to be raised, or programs cut.  The group that will be taxed is the 90% and the only programs that fall into a funding category that can offset that deficit amount are military spending, social security, and medicare/medicaid.  Those anticipating social program coverage in retirement, beware.

These are but a few examples of a government seeking to change into a greedy oligarchy.  The Trump/Republican administration represents the introduction of greed socialism by systematically destroying the existent governmental systems and using their power base and the redirected assets of the masses to enrich the selected.

The intent of this paper was to provided an insight into government, socialism, and what the trend and choices will be for the 2020 election.

The Abe Lincoln Constitutional type of socialism,  “A GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE…” worked for over two hundred and forty years and is by far preferable.  The choice is yours!… Maybe!

APOLLO, et al

I watched with great pride the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11.  Appropriately, the recognition and credit goes to NASA and the thousands of committed personnel of the Apollo program and the amazing astronauts both those alive and those who have passed in support of the program’s goals and objectives.

Neil Armstrong’s historic statement, “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” is a statement which also acknowledges the millions of small steps taken by thousands of personnel who with their commitment and professional expertise contributed to the Apollo Program with the cutting edge technological advances developed in the Mercury and Gemini programs, they too made this “small step” possible.

I knew some of those thousands, because I was one of the rocket scientists at Mission Control who was responsible for the GeminiTitan booster during flight on all the manned missions.  May history make note of the fact that every step taken was supported by millions of grains of moon dust just like the number of those project personnel that preceded that boot impression.  May I say to those who shared in supporting that footprint of that first “small step”,  THANK YOU!

DEJA VU

Is it Deja Vu?  Sometimes we have to review history in order to prevent reliving it!

Years ago, in a democratic country, a popular politician gained political control of the country by taking over the major political party.  Those who spoke against him were outed from the party and the party became the voice of it’s leader.  This leader, in order to maintain power, developed an elite paramilitary organization which strong armed any opposition.  This leader further turned on the very democratic process that put him in power, labeled the process as traitorous, and identified other competitive parties as communistic, which he then proceeded to eliminate.  The group he created became his enforcement army, muscled the public and specific racial groups. They were responsible for a substantial number of violent deaths of the other party’s leadership and innocent bystanders.  One public characteristic of this group was their racist, torch-lit parades though out the capital.

Even the conservatives who put this leader into power thought that they could control him, but were unsuccessful.  In due course, the leader expressed his own racism openly, outwardly, and tragically .

A British Ambassador assigned to that country once wrote, “he, the leader, may be no statesman but he is uncommonly clever, an audacious demagogue and fully alive to every popular instinct.”

A create event gave this leader an opportunity to suspend civil liberties, eliminate political opposition, and allowed him to act without constitutional limitation, reconstructing the laws to conform to his objectives.  With these acts he abolished state powers, eliminated all political parties and organizations, and made eugenics and racism national objectives.

The thirst for complete unilateral power and control was so great that he feared the potential power of the very organization he earlier had created.  In order to assure absolute power he assassinated his own loyal members of those organizations including their leaders, killing over 1000 of his most loyal followers.

Of course my discourse speaks to the rise of Adolf Hitler (1925-1930) through his party control and dictatorship period (1931-1933).

Hitler’s militant creations originally were the Sturmabteilung or Stormtroopers (SA) and later another organization, the Schutzstaffel (SS).  On June 30, 1934, an operation called the Night of the Long Knives/Operation Hummingbird was initiated by Hitler against the SA by directing the SS to destroy the SA completely, including its leadership in order to eliminate competition and consolidate the paramilitary power.

Does any of this sound familiar?  Is history repeating itself?  Is only a mustache missing?  Are we on a slippery slope?  Is 2020 a tipping point?  Only you can answer these questions.

THE SUPREME COURT

Once again the editorial pages of newspapers throughout the country commented on the highly partisan Supreme Court with it’s one determining swing vote which establishes the Rule of Law for 335 million Americans.  Our liberties and democracy for the next forty-plus years have fallen victim to a corrupt senate leadership under “grim reaper” leader McConnell who effectively controls Judicial appointments. 

The actions of the Court this past week with regard to gerrymandering and the citizenship census question are only the beginning of that which is yet to come. Looming in the future of this partisan court is Roe v. Wade, health care, civil rights, voting rights, LBGTQ, citizenship and a host of issues dealing with political power, war powers, who is subject to the law, violation of an oath or lying under oath, pardons, etc.

The 2020 election is an opportune time to replace the old political deadwood of Congress and bring the Supreme Court into the 21^st century by revising the congressionally approved Judiciary Act of 1869 which is the authority of the Federal Judiciary System under Article III of the Constitution.  

The 1869 Act, a hundred fifty years old was passed by Congress when there were 38 states, a population of 30 million, and a life expectancy of fewer than 60 years.  It is time to replace the 1869 Act with a 2021 Judiciary Act, expanding the judicial base so that it is more representative of our nation with appointments of qualified judges who are Native Americans, Muslin, Indian, Asian, Middle Eastern, LBGTQ, etc. and limiting their term of office.  Hopefully, in that manner, the Court can deal more effectively with a future that involves genetics, artificial intelligence, robotics, space law, alternate reality, computer identity, and only GOD knows what else.  To that end, I suggest the following be considered in replacing the Judiciary Act of 1869:

• The Supreme Court should be comprised of Justices in a number equal to the number of Federal Appellate Court Districts (13 currently).  One of whom shall be designated, Chief Justice.
  
• Supreme Court decisions require a two-thirds majority vote of the Court (9 Justices).
  
• There are no lifetime appointments.  All Federal appointed Judges shall serve a single generational term of 25 years.
  
  

The 2020 election provides a unique opportunity to correct our governance. If not then, when?

CONTRIBUTIONS, CANDIDATES, CONNED?

Sometimes you have to wonder about homo-sapiens.  For many years now we have witnessed how the “Citizens United” decision has opened the money gates to buy political parties, candidates, and elections.  As a result, billionaires with political agendas have had the opportunity to “invest” in political parties for their desired political outcomes…that is in most cases.  There is one Congressional bill and its vote that caught my attention and puzzled me.

House bill (HR 183, 7 March 2019), was the result of various racial acts including the murderous attacks on Houses of Worship, and whose description begins with “Condemning anti-Semitism as hateful expression of intolerance that are contradictory to the values and aspirations that define the people of the United States…”

The Republican Party enjoys the support of many in the Jewish orthodox community as well as extremely wealthy members of the Jewish community.  There are Jewish billionaires who have during multiple election cycles contributed tens of millions of dollars to the Republican Party.  The party of their choice and therefore the party whose candidates should have been beholden to these premier contributors.  

The only votes against this HR 183 were made by twenty-three (23) seated Republican Members of the United States House of Representatives!

The Secret Service announced the construction of a new 13 foot fence around the White House.  I suggest it be made 20 feet high, topped with razor wire and then lose the gate keys.  “I”  problem solved!

AMERICA, THE BANKRUPCY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

If you believe the great middle class bankruptcies of 2008 were a problem, welcome to the new record destined for 2020.  The king of bankruptcies has set a new goal…bankrupting the largest number of Americans during one administration.  Mr. Trump having set a personal historic record of six bankruptcies, a billion dollar income loss and paying no federal income taxes over a ten year period has set a goal as bankruptor-in-chief to engage this historic challenge.  Using a new “back breaking” tax called “tariffs”, Mr. Trump believes he could beat that previous gold standard.  

As any leader who wants to share their expertise with the masses, Mr. Trump would like to have tens of millions of average Americans learn about bankruptcy.  It is simple, with a blink of the eye and the stroke of the pen he has placed a tax on everyday items we import.  These are products we use, eat and use in our workplace everyday.   So let’s step up to the carnival stage and listen to the snake oil pitch.

In order to balance trade issues between the U.S. and several countries that sell their products to us, we say that’s not good!  Let’s put a tax (tariff) on their products that they send us.  And because we do that, they put a tax on the products we provide.  They send us electronics, autos, furnishings, major parts, shoes, steel, aluminum, lumber, fresh and processed foods, etc.  We send them soy beans, beef, pork, etc.  The tariff tax is paid by the user to their government to punish the tariffed countries.  That’s so the people won’t buy the products of the tariffed countries.  But if there is not an alternative for the tariffed product, the consumer pays the tariff.  That’s you and me!  Now it’s possible that you can pay more for that item or do without it rather than pay 40% more than you would have paid a year ago.

There is much more to this situation. And therefore we have to look a little deeper.  Let’s say your employer buys a necessary critical component for his product and is only available from that other country.  Because of his increased cost of the tariff tax his business drops off and he has to lay off 50% of the workers.  Some of the sellers of his product can’t make enough sales at higher prices and ends up closing their stores.  So you didn’t lose you job, but your hours were cut and you still have to buy your three kids new shoes at 30% more than the last time.  And yes, as you went from full time to part time you lost your healthcare.  Meanwhile the other country that was buying our soy beans found a cheaper source, signed a multiyear contract and since our farmers were losing their farms, the government stepped in and subsides the farmer with billions in grants.  Now the grants came from the budget which means we the taxpayers.  So taxes are raised to create a subsidy fund for the farmers to offset their loss of soy bean sales due to tariff taxes and those sales may have been lost forever.  Another example is that of Boeing, which has many of it’s major components of their new 777 manufactured in one of those tariff countries. Will cancellations of some of those hundreds of planes on order be made because of late of or no deliveries?  And so the cycle of losses, taxes, job loss and higher prices continue until someone concedes to the stupidity of the great American tariff tax scheme and resultant bankruptcies.  It is estimated that over 10,000 small businesses will fail and will go out of business due to these tariffs.

In the tariff war there is a lesser known aspect which is a real “get even” game.  Tariffed countries have another arrow in their quiver and that is they can stop using dollars in their international trade and then start selling off the U.S. treasury funds they use in trade.  Watch out America!  This is dangerous stuff!

The answer is simple, negotiate over a conference table without crippling an economy and before creating economic chaos or is the desire to have a economic shutdown again.

TRUMP DAY?
It is just over a month to the 4th of July, when America is scheduled to once again celebrate the traditional anniversary of our Independence.  It appears that Mr. Trump acting as president, has decided to realign the event by moving the fireworks location from the National Mall to a spot near the Potomac River.  This is being done in order to accommodate the possibility of a personal “very, very meaningful” political address by Mr. Trump at the Lincoln Memorial, according to the Secretary of the Interior, David Bernhardt.  My questions are, will Independence Day be replaced by Trump Day and will President Lincoln be removed from his seated Washington Monument position to be replaced by Mr. Trump?  Time will tell.
