BALLOTS…LIES…& A SOLUTION!  

Postmaster General DeJoy comments and promises are nothing more than lies!  He will not replace processing machines, the drop boxes, or permit overtime but let’s say he promises that all mail will be delivered to the moon by 3 Nov.  Then on 4 Nov, he would say, “Sorry, it just didn’t happen.  So, what, the situation is over!  It is what it is!”  

At this time we must focus on getting an early “vote at home” ballot, and return the completed ballot to the election authority ASAP.  With early voting in many states, the opportunity to accomplish this is possible. Ballots can be returned to the election authority through means other than the mail, like personal delivery, drop boxes, polling place drops, Fed Ex, etc. or even picked up by a mobile polling place.    

A MOBILE POLLING PLACE is a simple idea.  It is a ballot pick up program initiated by the election authority or funded and implemented by the private sector and volunteers. The authority would authorize the use of a secure vehicle to collect ballots as an alternative to mailing the ballot.  Ballot pick up could be accomplished on a scheduled basis through each precinct within a polling district.  The announced route and time window would be replicated multiple times before the 3 Nov election and accomplished by a deputized poll worker, a driver, and a security officer in an appropriately secured, sound system vehicle.  The sound system would announce the vehicle is in the area with an alert tune.  Voters could wave the vehicle down and deposit their ballot with the deputized poll worker into a secured lockbox and receive a unique “I VOTED” tag. These route systems already exist and are simple, used by the Postal Service, trash pickup, UPS, FedX, Amazon, utility meter readers, and many others.  

Of course, ballots could be mailed but there would be no guarantee that they would be received in time to be counted. The deputy could supply coded provisional ballots for those voters who may not have received their “vote at home” ballot.  This MOBILE POLLING PLACE concept is simple but unique. 

SIMPLER BALLOT COMPLETION could be facilitated if “vote at home” voters choose to accomplish a “short ballot”.  A “short ballot is a partially completed ballot with votes only for the federal candidates, state constitutional and legislative offices, and local government. Voting in this way accelerates ballot completion since many ballots are stalled in trying to determine who or what to vote for down-ballot.  Of course, the voter can choose the depth of their ballot vote, but this an effective alternative.  The rest of the ballot will not matter if we lose our democracy.    

What is needed is secured and early returned “vote at home” ballots.   

Will the Postmaster-General say on November 4^th,  

    “IT IS WHAT IT IS!”?
