Years ago a man wrote a book and used it to begin a political career.  In his quest for national unity, control of the media and political enthusiasm he developed a national motto.  Businesses, the government, politicians, the judiciary, some of the military and everyday citizens all bought into this man’s charisma and leadership because it represented power, personal gain, employment and the advancement of their country’s economic goals.

He used certain scapegoat nationalities and religious groups to build  his nationalistic movement.  He humiliated the handicapped and ethnic groups. Ultimately he controlled a significant war machine.  He and his followers wanted a pure blood line.  His power was scoffed at by world leaders, but his following viewed him only as a charismatic leader.

The book wasn’t “Mein Kampf”, the motto wasn’t “Deutschland Uber Alles”, the scapegoats weren’t Jews and Gypsies,  the disabled were not sterilized, and the blood line cleansing was not done by deportation.

The book was “The Art of the Deal”, the motto was “Make America Great Again!”, the scapegoats are Hispanics and Muslims, the handicapped are mocked publicly and the bloodline will be cleansed by the deportation of 11 million undocumented.

Last night I had a dream that I was a candidate running for the Presidency and I needed to gain knowledge about issues of concern to the public and those super delegates who were committed to a candidate before the candidates were even known.  So a few thoughts popped into my mind that in the current political dialog have not been mentioned.  My first thought was to survey all the super delegates in a fashion that would give them total anonymity in order to find out what are their priority issues.  The purpose of doing this would be to integrate their principle concerns into any influence I might have at the convention in establishing planks in the platform and define the future direction of the party.  Super delegates have interests in supporting a candidate that transcends the issues which they see are important but would compromise the basis of their candidate support as related to their personal objectives.  This survey would give them an anominous opportunity to voice their issue concerns and bring them to the forefront.

Another item that is not being discussed in the campaign rhetoric is the down ticket. If I am “top cheese” as President, the real grunt work and implementation is done by the Congress.  Prez can’t do it alone, so I would be working the down ticket to have a Congress that can intelligently participate in advancing the American democracy for the benefit of the people and the Republic. Down ticket positions are very important!

I’d be concerned with the 2018 mid term election as to ensure that state governments are working for all the people and that all the people have an opportunity to vote. Along those lines I’d foster establishing national standards for voting in national elections e.g. number of polling places per congressional district, acceptable voter identification, number of pre-election voting days, operational methodology, etc. Then there is the important 2020 election which will define political districts which might continue the disenfranchisement of voters by gerrymandering of the 2020 census.

Lastly I would like to create jobs, 100s of thousands of them by rebuilding our infrastructure, building a cross country (N to S, E to W) high speed transportation system, a new power distribution system, desalinization water systems along with an aquaduct distribution system, just to mention a few.  I’d want every able bodied person who wants to work have a good paying job until their retirement.

On second thought, I didn’t have a dream…I had a nightmare!!!
